“Where, after all, do universal human rights begin? In small places, close to home - so close and so small that they cannot be seen on any maps of the world. Unless these rights have meaning there, they have little meaning anywhere. Without concerted citizen action to uphold them close to home, we shall look in vain for progress in the larger world."
Eleanor Roosevelt Driving force behind the Universal Declaration of Human Rights
Today is the International Day of Human Rights. A day that calls for people to know and push for their rights no matter where they are in the world. Disrespect for basic human rights continues to be wide-spread in all parts of the globe. Extremist movements subject people to horrific violence. Messages of intolerance and hatred prey on our fears. This year, Human Rights Day calls on everyone to stand up for someone's rights! We must reaffirm our common humanity. Wherever we are, we can make a real difference. In the street, in school, at work, in public transport; in the voting booth, on social media.

The Standing Rock Sioux Tribe is an incredible example of what we can achieve when we come together as one. Power to the peaceful - because of these people the construction of the controversial Dakota Access Pipeline has been halted. A true victory for both Mother nature and human kind! This gives us once again proof that we DO have the power to change the world.

We believe that women´s rights are human rights. Despite progress in recent years, girls and women continue to suffer severe disadvantage and exclusion in education systems throughout their lives. Did you know that 1 in 3 women worldwide experience violence in their lifetime? And did you know that there are still 32 countries in the world where rape perpetrators will not be punished if they are married or get married to the person they violated?

We stand for greater freedoms. Stronger respect. More compassion. We want to raise awareness about gender-based violence therefore we support the extremely important campaign #16days of activism to end violence against women, runned by UNwomen.

Violence against women is preventable - take action today!
Water is life. Nature is sacred. We are part of the earth and it is a part of us. Women´s rights are human rights and we´re all responsible to make this reality. So, how can you begin to support other women? Dress up for your global sisters!
It starts with each of us. Be the change you wish to see in this world.
